Dress-ed up

Dresses are one of the best parts about spring and summer for me. They are easy to throw on, they come in so many different styles, colors and shapes. As I mentioned before, growing up I was much more of a tomboy and it took me a bit of time to get comfortable in dresses and figure out what I liked and what looked good. Being pregnant, last summer was a great opportunity to experiment with new types of dresses that I generally used to avoid. I went for brighter colors and different lengths and I loved it. This summer I am excited to continue experimenting with new dresses. It helps that they are so comfortable and cooler to wear when it gets super hot out. I picked up four different dresses that I was excited to wear and style in the coming months.

Two are a bit fancier

and two are more on the casual side

I find I really love print, and if you follow my IG account, you know how much I love stripes, so these dresses aren’t too far from my comfort zone, but they are definitely patterned and colorful and will be fun to wear.

Dress: Zara | Clutch: Coach | Shoes: Jcrew Factory | Necklace: Jcrew Factory

This first dress I absolutely fell in love with when I saw it hanging in the store. I was returning something I had bought and saw it from all the way across the store and immediately went to pick it up and try it on. It’s such a pretty pattern and I cannot wait to wear it this spring and summer! I’ve styled it very simply here to let the pattern and color take center stage. You could also pair it with pretty sandals or even a denim jacket to make it more casual.

For this second dress, I have also kept it pretty simple with girly accessories. Nude and white colored high heeled sandals and a pretty colored necklace are perfect accessories for this dress that is great for summer parties or even for a bride to wear to her bridal shower. The salesgirl told me, while I was buying this dress, that a bride had actually purchased it for her bridesmaids. What a great idea and will look beautiful in the photos!

Dress: Old Navy | Shoes: Target (old) similar here | Denim Vest: Gap (old) similar here

For this dress, I went pretty causal in styling it. A denim vest, a layering piece that I love in the summer for giving dresses a different look and feel, went so well with this dress. A clutch and some wedge pumps keep the dress feminine and summery.

I am really excited to wear this dress. The polka dots make this dress totally different from anything I already own and they keep the dress fun and light for the warmer months. Pairing it with a denim jacket makes it wearable sooner, so you don’t have to wait for the higher temperatures to pull it out.
